Emotions and Massage

Emotions and massage are not often talked about because we think of massage as being such a physical thing. In reality what massage does is help you to feel more which is an important part of becoming conscious.

Massage and touch are now being recognized as an important part of emotional healing. Our bodies and mind are really one according to Candace Pert who scientifically proves the connection between the two in her book "Molecules of Emotions".

The body is the subconscious and is the way to understanding more about the self.

The body is what holds and stores your feeling. It lets you know what you are feeling. Your feelings are what tell you what you are thinking and whether or not you are in sync with your inner being. So of often feelings are held back and repressed at the sake of being nice or pleasing others that they begin to cause physical distress.

Massage directed at creating awareness can help you through difficult emotional situations and stress by helping to reduce anxiety, blood pressure and help you to be more aware of your body and stay present with whatever is happening that is causing the stress. When you are able to do that, you can be more in touch with learning to act rather than react.

Massage is particularly helpful in cases of grief and physical exhaustion from that process. Nurturing touch can help to process the grief and recover more quickly.

If you would like to explore the possibilities of touch and emotional support, please call for an appointment.
